Girl Scouts of Western New York is proud to announce Caroline Kowalski of Orchard Park, NY, as a 2020 Gold Award Girl Scout. Kowalski’s project, Therapy and Rehabilitation Garden, which focused on creating two wheelchair-accessible garden beds. The beds are made of cedar wood, which is naturally bug and rot resistant, meaning they can last up to 15 years without wood treatment.
Girl Scouts of Western New York is proud to announce Aniyiah Harris of Buffalo, NY, as a 2020 Gold Award Girl Scout. Harris’ project, Let’s Get School Supplies!, involved distributing school supplies to children in need in her community.
Girl Scouts of Western New York is proud to announce Danielle Bellis of Akron, NY, as a 2020 Gold Award Girl Scout. Bellis’ project, First Kicks: A Teen-Led Preschool Soccer Program, provided children as young as three and four years old with basic soccer skills while creating a leadership opportunity for teenagers to get hands-on experience teaching young children.
Girl Scouts of Western New York is proud to announce Morgan Mahoney of Hamburg, NY, as a 2020 Gold Award Girl Scout. Mahoney’s project, Game Time, involved creating oversized board games for her local YMCA that services four elementary schools in the Hamburg School District.
Girl Scouts of Western New York is proud to announce Alexa Sass of Hamburg, NY, as a 2020 Gold Award Girl Scout. Sass’ project was titled Pollinator Garden, and was built at Tifft Nature Preserve in Buffalo.
irl Scouts of Western New York is proud to announce Nicole Spiegel of East Amherst, NY, as a 2020 Gold Award Girl Scout. Spiegel’s Gold Award was titled Daycare Project and focused on increasing literacy and availability of literature at a local daycare. For her project, she built a Little Free Library and picnic table, plus planted trees to establish a reading space. She finished her project through the distribution of digital literacy information during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Girl Scouts of Western New York is proud to announce Isabell Timm of West Henrietta, NY, as a 2020 Gold Award Girl Scout. Timm’s project, Breese Park Birdhouses, involved building and installing six birdhouses at Breese Park in Henrietta to help visitors observe the wildlife and to assist with the migration of bluebirds.
Emma is an official GSWNY 2020 Girl Scout Gold Award recipient. Her project was a mural for the Monroe County Visitation Center, a part of the Society for the Protection and Care of Children.
