Girl Scouts of Western New York is proud to announce Sophia Braithwaite of Webster, NY, as a 2020 Gold Award Girl Scout. Braithwaite’s project, Titan Ambassador Program, involves providing students who transfer into Webster Thomas High School with much needed support. Through collaboration with Webster Thomas PTSA, Think Tank Promotional, her advisors for Link Crew, and her school principal, Sophia Braithwaite organized a summer orientation and two luncheons to help transfer students to feel included at school.
Girl Scouts of Western New York is proud to announce Zaria Gibson-Stevenson of Rochester, NY, as a 2020 Gold Award Girl Scout. Gibson-Stevenson’s project, Inspire You, involved creating a video to show diversity in Girl Scouting, primarily, black and brown Girl Scouts in the community for recruitment and awareness.
The Girl Scouts of Lake Ridge Service Unit portrayed and shared information on the evolution of Girl Scouts from its inception in 1912 to the present, including Girl Scout High Awards and the history cookie sales. The displays and performances captured the history of Girl Scouts along with some of the social trends and cultural zeitgeist of each decade.
