The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest achievement in Girl Scouting, earned by Senior or Ambassador Girl Scouts who create sustainable, measurable, and lasting change on a community issue. Recipients complete a minimum of 80 hours of work, demonstrating exceptional leadership.
Girl Scouts identify a root cause of a local or global issue and implement a project with lasting, measurable impact. The process includes choosing an issue, researching, recruiting a team, creating a plan, submitting a proposal, taking action, and educating others.
Over the course of the month, we will be highlighting the Girl Scouts of Western New York Gold Awardees! Please join us as we congratulate Samantha Healy on earning Girl Scouting’s highest honor!
Samantha’s project, “Mental Health in Sports,” focused on raising awareness about the importance of mental health among athletes and within sports communities. Through education and outreach, Samantha helped encourage conversations around mental wellness, support systems, and the importance of seeking help when needed.
