Instructors will be masked during all sessions, we ask the same of students. Equipment will be sanitized after each student.

Coming right up we have Wednesday evening and Saturday mid morning sessions on February 3rd and 6th in our Rochester Service Center, and Wednesday evening and Saturday mid morning sessions in our Buffalo Service Center February 10th and 13th. Free Democracy Badge Booklet Downloads for all levels

As we transition to a new era of U.S. leadership, we want to encourage all girls to be informed citizens so they can become the change-makers of the future. Now through February 4, Girl Scouts is making the booklets and requirements for our Democracy badges free for all to download. With this support, girls will learn about their federal, state, and local governments, including how their elected officials make decisions and how they—girls—can make a difference in their communities and the country.

What Girls Have To Say

Recently, we had a record number of women running for public office and many firsts of women being elected – we asked girls what this meant to them and here are just some of their amazing responses:

“It means that lots of girls can run for president!” – Naima S., Daisy Girl Scout of Amherst Virtual Troop

“I feel very proud of the women paving the way for our generation! It is so great to see more women and more diversity in our elected officials.” – Zaporah M., Senior Girl Scout of Jamestown Troop 20029

“It means that there is a future for me as a girl to be a part of something bigger. I know girls can be what we want to be but with talking to my mom I also know there are obstacles that come with choosing a job where mostly men work. I hope that times change by the time I am old enough to have a job and more women are working in higher positions.” – Errynn W. Brownie Girl Scout of Avon Troop 50105

“I can follow my dreams.” Gia B., Brownie Girl Scout of West Seneca Troop 30125

“It means that women are finally getting the power they deserve.” – Isabella S., Senior Girl Scout of East Rochester Troop 60871

Girl Scouts Doing Good Things

Silver Award completed! Maya, Mackenzie, and Jessica from Troop 60296 (together since 2nd-grade Brownies) earned their Girl Scout Silver Award!

The Girl Scouts set out to help Golisano Children’s Hospital’s child life team. Their original goal was to create 100 tag or sensory blankets. So how many did the girls make? A WHOPPING 386!!!

The blankets were delivered on Dec. 28 along with 3 boxes of comic books donated by a local comic shop so that older children had something to enjoy as well.

We are #GirlScoutStrong! Looking forward to talking to you next Tuesday! In the meantime, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at Customer Care customercare@gswny.org or call 1-888-837-6410. In an emergency, please call 1-800-882-9268.
