Member Essentials – 6/15/21

Dear GSWNY Members,

Thank you so much for everything you have done this year to keep Girl Scouting strong and to ensure the safety of our girls and members.

As you may know, there have been many recent updates to NYS COVID-19 guidelines including the easing of masks in the outdoors for schools and camps, and today it was announced that commercial and social restrictions will be lifted, with the exception of K-12 schools and some other public guidelines.

Accordingly, GSWNY has revised our COVID-19 guidance. In outdoor settings, masks will no longer be required to be worn by any child or adult. Masks may always be worn by those who prefer to do so.

In indoor settings , including troop meetings, troop activities, GSWNY retail shops, etc., our prior COVID-19 guidelines will still be in place. The Department of Health strongly recommends masks and six feet of social distancing in indoor settings where vaccination status of individuals is unknown. GSWNY also continues to follow NYS K-12 school guidelines that still require masks used indoors. As children under the age of 12 cannot yet be vaccinated, when indoors, all vaccinated and unvaccinated girls and volunteers must practice social distancing (6 feet+), wear face coverings (masks) while indoors, and follow safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC.

We are still reviewing the NYS announcement today in light of any camp guidance changes and will keep our members updated once we have further details.

Additional changes are outlined in our COVID-19 guidelines effective 6-15-21.

We will continue to monitor NYS, CDC and public health guidance and continue to make adjustments going forward. We thank you for your diligence in keeping our girls, members and staff safe throughout this pandemic, and we are excited to see the light coming at the end of the tunnel.

Please see the important announcements below and for questions, please contact Customer Care customercare@gswny.org or call 1-888-837-6410. In an emergency, please call 1-800-882-9268.

Thank you for all you do!

Celebrating Juneteenth

Juneteenth officially became a holiday in New York last year, but it’s been celebrated around the country since 1866. It commemorates the day the last slaves in the United States learned they’d been freed on June 19, 1965.

We gathered information about traditional celebrations, as well as what you can do to celebrate this Saturday in your community, with your family, or online!
