On Tuesday, January 4, Girl Scouts of Western New York (GSWNY) announced Javeena A. Edwards as Chief Financial Officer.
Javeena A. Edwards, MBA, joins GSWNY with over 15 years of experience in accounting and finance. Throughout her career, she has cultivated a diverse background of experience across
industries such as banking, manufacturing, medical, and not-for-profit in the concentration of accounting/finance.
Girl Scouts of Western New York CEO Alison Wilcox said, “Javeena is a highly accomplished financial executive and a caring mentor and leader. I am confident our council will benefit greatly from the experience and passion Javeena will bring to her new role.”
Aside from her professional career, she is a wife to a Buffalo firefighter (Tyrrell Edwards) and a mother of three beautiful children (Nysaiah 20, Janiya 10, and Taylor Joi 5). Javeena also serves on several boards throughout the Buffalo area. She was born and raised within the City of Buffalo, NY, and has a strong connection and passion for ensuring voices of the underserved populations within the City of Buffalo are heard, and their concerns are addressed.
“I know it is my responsibility to continue to empower and lift other girls and women as I continue to elevate in my career,” said Edwards.
Javeena begins her role immediately, and is succeeding Debra J. Whais, who will be retiring on January 31 after serving the council for more than 20 years.
