Dear GSWNY Members,
This is an active time at Girl Scouts, with wintry outdoor activities, summer camp registration, our Girl Scout cookie program is in full swing and much more – thank you to our Girl Scout volunteers and parents and caregivers for all your support and effort for our girls.
Tomorrow, February 1 is also the beginning of Black History Month, and to foster the importance of learning and reading, I would like to direct you to some Girl Scout patch opportunities.
One of the great joys of being a Girl Scout CEO, is connecting with our Girl Scouts, and I’m so glad to have a special CEO patch that our GSWNY Girl Scouts can earn. The GSWNY CEO patch program is called “Leaders are Readers” which has book club inspired activities, and this month I encourage any girls participating to choose a book on Black History. You can earn this patch at the same time as our Girl Scout Black History Month patch, and our GSWNY Anti-Racism Patch, both of which include reading activities.
Please see the GSWNY CEO Patch Program here
Please see the information about the Girl Scout Black History Month Patch here
And our GSWNY Anti-Racism Patch here
As stated in our GSWNY Anti-Racism Path program, Girl Scouts prepares girls to be leaders in our world, to speak up, speak out, and take action for fairness, equality, civility, and compassion for all people, and to arm them with courage, confidence and character they need to make the world a better place.
Thank you for all you do for our Girl Scouts,
Alison
Last week, the National Board announced the appointment of Bonnie Barczykowski to serve as Girl Scouts’ new CEO. You can read more about this news here.
Bonnie will replace Sofia Chang, who made the decision to resign from her role and move on from the organization. She will be missed by so many and will always be part of the Girl Scout family.
Cookie Season is here |
Overwhelmed by the Cookie Program? We are here to help! Dear Volunteers and Members, First, we would like to thank you for your continued dedication to building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. It is because of your commitment that our girls are able to develop skills to carry them throughout their life’s journey. As we shared with you this past November, due to the economic climate, our council had to make some changes to the program this year. With that, we understand there are still many questions about this year’s cookie season. So, we have recently updated the list of FAQs found here. We also conducted a webinar with this information back in November that can befound here (passcode 23cookies) In addition, please see our 2023 Cookie Season Informational Cards to help our girls’ sales pitch and share these changes with customers. You will find a color version and a more print-friendly black & white version Color Informational Card and Black and White Card Informational Card We encourage GSWNY members to share any additional feedback on how we can best support Girl Scouts and volunteers through this change by contacting Customer Care at: customercare@gswny.org |
