One month left in Spring Renewal 2019!

It’s hard to believe the month of April is over and tomorrow brings us May! While we’re excited about the flowers and sunshine, we’re here to talk about Spring Renewal and the amazing incentives still available for you!

First of all, in case you don’t know, Spring Renewal is a time to re-register for the following year of Girl Scouts. Our membership year begins in October, but renewing early secures your spot for the fun yet to come AND includes amazing incentives.

Renewing your membership by May 31 automatically qualifies your girl for SAGE Tuition Rewards. These points translate to money for college, meaning the $25 you pay for her membership turns into 2500 points, which becomes $2,500 to be used at one of 400 colleges and universities across the United States.

The deal is even sweeter if you’re a co-leader. When you renew early, you receive 3500 SAGE Tuition Rewards points, or $3,500, that your girl, son, niece, nephew, god child etc. can use for higher education.

Outside of those GUARANTEED rewards for re-registering during Spring Renewal, you have other chances to win. If you renew by 11:59 p.m. TONIGHT, you’re entered into a drawing for one of three $200 Amazon gift cards. If your entire troop and two co-leaders are renewed, your troop can win one of two sets of tickets to your favorite local museum or zoo (up to 12 tickets).

Don’t wait any longer! Renew your Girl Scout membership today and win!

Your voice counts! Girl Scout Voices Count survey happening this month.

At Girl Scouts, we care about your experience, good or bad, and we want to hear from you!

In April, Girl Scouts of the USA will be conducting a national survey with girls, parents/caregivers, and troop leaders called Girl Scout Voices Count to find out what’s working, and what’s not, in Girl Scouts. (Service Unit/Community Volunteers will be surveyed in May.) We will use your feedback to improve our services and programs.

The surveys opened April 3 and ends May 12.  Check your email for the invitation to participate. As a Thank You, everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a raffle to win one of twenty $50 gift cards! We can’t wait for you to make your voice count!

Got questions? For more information, email GSVoicesCount@girlscouts.org.

Renew your Girl Scout membership by April 30 to win!

We’re a few weeks into our annual Spring Renewal and we’re blown away by how many excited Girl Scouts we have coming back next year! If you’re planning to remain in Girl Scouts, Spring Renewal is the time to re-register for the next membership year.

While you can wait until the fall, renewing now gives you the opportunity to win amazing prizes AND earn college tuition rewards points. All girls and co-leaders who renew before midnight on April 30 are entered into a drawing for three $200 Amazon gift cards. That’s three for girls, three for adults! Troops who are 100% renewed by this time are entered into a drawing for two sets of tickets to your favorite local museum or zoo.

The SAGE Tuition Rewards are really something special. Throughout the entirety of Spring Renewal (through May 31), all girls and co-leaders who renew will receive 2,500 points and 3,500 points respectively. What that means is renewing your membership can earn your girl $2,500 for college and you $3,500 to share with anyone you choose under the age of 18.

Plus, the earlier you renew, the more prizes you can win! With every drawing, we pull from everyone who’s renewed to that point, whether it was the start of the campaign of the day before. What are you waiting for?

Happy Volunteer Appreciation Month!

April is one of our favorite months of the year because it’s a special time to thank the everyday heroes in the lives of our Girl Scouts – our volunteers! While we love and appreciate them (and you!) every day, April is a special time to show our gratitude.

We know that without our volunteers, our girls wouldn’t develop into
G.I.R.L.s (Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers, Leaders)™. They help our girls unleash their most confident selves and transform them into a force for good. They take our mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character to heart and apply it in all they do.

All year long, our volunteers make meaningful and inspiring contributions to our movement and we’re so thankful they choose to dedicate their time to preparing Girl Scouts for a lifetime of leadership. Our program makes a difference, and it’s because of how hard our volunteers work and care.

They say not all heroes wear capes, but ours wear the passion for what they do as a notable indicator that they’re Girl Scout volunteers. And yes, some of ours wear vests and patches!

More than just us thanking you, we know how grateful our members are for our volunteers, which is why we have the option for you to thank volunteers as well!

All month long, show your favorite Girl Scout volunteer how much they mean to you with a straight-from-the-heart, personalized ecard. Choose from four predesigned templates. Just fill in the blank to finish the sentence, and share your ecard with them on Facebook, on Twitter, or by email!

Also during National Volunteer Week (April 7–13) you can head over to FacebookTwitter, and Instagram, to show love for your favorite Girl Scout volunteer by sharing what makes them so special to you. Be sure to mention all the ways you support them throughout the year too. And remember to tag @girlscouts and use #NVW2019 so we can follow the love!

As a token of our appreciation, you can save this month at our online store. Use code VOLUNTEER19 for 15% off* one item from our online store, the Girl Scout Shop, and bring a smile to a volunteer’s face! Or pick up something new for yourself. We can say with confidence you’ve definitely earned it!

Not a Girl Scout volunteer?

It’s not too late to embark on this incredible adventure! If you’re looking for ways to have a powerful, lasting influence on girls in your community, we’d love to chat.Volunteer Now!

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month!

We try to celebrate our amazing volunteers as often as possible, but once a year we take an entire month to make it our focus. April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and we’re excited to let our volunteers know how special they are.

Without volunteers, our passion to empower G.I.R.L.s (go-getters, innovators, risk-takers and leaders) would fall short. We need our troop leaders, service unit managers, event volunteers and everyone in between to further our mission of developing girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

All month long we’ll take the time to shout out specific volunteers and thank everyone who gives their time to help the girls in our council. Girl Scout Leader Day is April 22, and it kicks off Volunteer Week!

Follow us on Facebook to stay up to date with all of the activities and of course, if you’re one of our volunteers THANK YOU!

Girl Scouts Fight Hunger

2018-girl-scouts-fight-hunger-flyers2.jpg

April is an exciting month for Girl Scouts. This year, we’re kicking off camp, announcing new and exciting partnerships and celebrating our volunteers. But it doesn’t end there.

For the Girl Scouts of Western New York, April is also about giving back, specifically through our annual Girl Scouts Fight Hunger initiative.

Throughout the month of April, we encourage everyone in our council to donate food. These donations support the Food Bank of Western New York and Foodlink. All of our service centers are available to accept your donations, making it easy to contribute.

You can find us Batavia, Buffalo, Jamestown and Lockport. Our hours vary, so please confirm we’ll be there through our website before you stop by. If you want to donate but cannot make it to a service center, email us at girl.experience@gswny.org.

Like most drives, only non-expired and non-perishable food items will be accepted. Suggestions include peanut butter, canned fruits and veggies, mac and cheese, tuna, cereal, granola bars and more.

You can even fight hunger in your community while earning our Girl Scouts Fight Hunger Patch. You can join our council-wide effort to combat hunger through knowledge and awareness. There are two steps toward completing the patch: discover and connect and take action.

First, either on your own or with your troop or family you must find a way to discover and connect to the issue. After learning more, you will connect donations and drop them off at one of our locations. For more information about ways to connect and preregister for the patch, check out this flyer.

Thank you in advance to everyone who helps us fight hunger in Western New York!
