Help send a girl to camp this summer

Greetings,

Every year, donors like you provide the opportunity for our girls to go to camp. All this and more await the girls at camp this summer:

Right now, campers here in your community are crossing their fingers and hoping they can go to camp this summer.  Will you make the magic of camp possible for these girls?

Families who have to make hard decisions about their finances want their girl to have the same opportunity as every girl. They want to send them to camp. When you make a gift to the Campership Fund you’re bringing hope to these families. Hope that their girl will be able to have the same experience as all girls, hope that if even for just a little while, she will be able to smile, run, laugh, have fun and will be able to answer the question ~  What did you do this summer? “I went to Girl Scout Camp!”

With your help they can!

Having enough Campership dollars to help families send their girl to camp continues to be a challenge. In the past four years, we have seen an 80% increase in families asking for assistance. We need your help now!

You’ve read what the girls have to say about camp and now I’m asking you to open your heart and make a gift to the GSWNY Campership Fund today to help send more girls to camp this summer.

With gratitude for your support,

Janet DePetrillo

Director of Camp Administration

How to pay for summer camp for your girl

We believe every girl should have the opportunity to experience camp and shouldn’t be excluded from this for any reason. Because of this, we have camperships and grants that allow our girls to attend camp without the potential financial burden.

Recently, WKBW spoke to a former camper, our Director of Camp Administration, and CEO about Girl Scout summer camp and our financial aid options. Check out the video below to learn more and contact Customer Care at customercare@gswny.org or 1-888-837-6410 to learn more today.

Camperships are available for your girl

At Girl Scouts, we believe in the value of camp. Since our beginnings, getting girls outside has been one of our primary areas of focus. In fact, it currently stands as one of our four program pillars – STEM, Life Skills, Entrepreneurship, and Outdoors.

Knowing how important it is for girls to go outdoors, we want to make sure every girl has the opportunity. Our goal is always to make sure that no one is excluded from our program for any reason, including financial.

If your girl is a member of Girl Scouts of Western New York, we have financial aid options available for her. The Summer Camp Financial Assistance Application needs to be completed asap for consideration.

To apply, register for camp and fill out the financial aid application included. Physical forms can be picked up at our service centers.

Don’t forget to register for your Sage Rewards Points!

First, we want to thank everyone who participated in our Spring Renewal Campaign. We are beyond thrilled with how many adults and girls renewed early this year. Even better than our gratitude, all our early birds qualify for some pretty great perks, including Sage Tuition Rewards Points.

This system turns your renewal fee into money for college for anyone you choose still in high school. Every dollar turns into a point, which in turn becomes a $1,000! The $25 cost for girls becomes $2,500 and the $35 for co-leaders and Service Unit Managers becomes $3,500! Even better, you don’t have to assign these points right away and you can change who you’d like to receive them.

To receive these points, you must create an account with Sage Scholars by Friday, June 8. This allows the points to be added automatically this summer. Failing to sign up unfortunately means you won’t receive your points – they can’t be added retroactively.

Visit www.tuitionrewards.com to set up an account.  At that time, you can designate recipients for the tuition points, or edit the list later.  If you have issues logging in, or have questions about your account, please contact Sage directly using the “Contact Us” link on their website.  We are unable to assist with your account. While on the Sage Rewards website, you can learn more about how the points work, who can use them, qualifying colleges and more.

If you have additional questions, please review this FAQ sheet.

The deadline for Camp Financial Aid is tomorrow, June 1

Our camperships exist to partner with you so your girl can go to camp. We want every girl to experience new opportunities to grow and not be held back by current circumstances. If you’d like assistance in sending your girl to camp, the time to apply is now.

Simply go to our website and register for camp. Here you can explain why you need the additional support in detail, as well as provide your household income information and submit the required documents. We need to know what you can provide, and we promise to never share the information with anyone.

As a reminder, in order to qualify you must meet the following criteria:

  • Your girl must be a registered member of Girl Scouts of Western New York
  • Your application is due by June 1
  • You must be caught up on all your payments for cookies, QSP merchandise, programs, and prior years camp fees

See you at camp!

Camp Financial Aid Deadline is Approaching

We believe in the benefits of camping for your girl, like providing her opportunities to develop and improve her leadership skills and educate her about acceptance and tolerance. Because of this, we want to provide every opportunity we can to get her there.

Financial assistance is available for all who fill out an online camp application. You can begin the process by going online to register here. As a reminder, our camperships are meant to assist you, not cover the entire cost.

Once you fill out an application, you will be asked to complete the Financial Aid – Household Income Information section, including how much you plan to be able to contribute. We provide a section for you to explain why you’re asking for assistance in as much detail as possible. You’ll also be required to submit income verification documents.

Please remember all of what you submit is confidential and we will never share your story with anyone else.

Other than the income requirements, there are a few considerations to remember:

  • Your girl must be a registered member of Girl Scouts of Western New York
  • Your application is due by June 1
  • You must be caught up on all your payments for cookies, QSP merchandise, programs, and prior years camp fees

We look forward to seeing your girl at camp!
