Dear GSWNY Members,

Please note that GSWNY will still follow all of our current COVID-19 guidelines found here.  Although the CDC and NYS are relaxing mask requirements for vaccinated individuals, children under the age of 12 are not yet able to be vaccinated, and for the safety of all of our members we will still follow our current guidelines in Girl Scout activities including masks and social distancing for the time being. Thank you.

GSWNY will begin our summer hours on Monday, May 24, 2021 please be aware of our schedule for virtual customer care support and availability for our retail shops; details below:

GSWNY Celebrates AAPI Heritage Month

This month, the GSWNY Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee is celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! While we aren’t able to highlight every one of these amazing and diverse cultures, each week will feature an overall theme with related information.

Last week we learned about the diverse AAPI community as well as a history of the Heritage Month. Now it’s time to talk about something that touches all of our lives: pop culture.

Brand Refresh coming July 1, 2021

We’re excited to announce a Girl Scouts brand refresh coming this summer! You may have noticed glimpses of it in our materials for Becoming Me and Spring Renewal campaign.

Earn Points for College Scholarships From Girl Scouts of Western New YorkRenew by 5/31

This is an exclusive benefit for girls, co-leaders, and SUMs who participate in our annual Girl Scout Membership Spring Renewal Campaign and renew by 5/31. After their first year of Girl Scouts, girls, co-leaders, and SUMs can earn Tuition Reward Points when they renew their Girl Scout membership. Each 1 Point equals $1 in college tuition scholarship. Girls earn 2,500 Points and co-leaders/SUMs earn 3,500 Points. Points will be applied to SAGE Scholars accounts in July. Want more information? Visit our SAGE Scholars Page.

Two weeks left to submit your T-FAR!

Attention Troop Treasurers! If you have submitted your Troop Finance Activity Report, we thank you!  If you haven’t, there are only two weeks left to get it in on time! Please don’t wait until the last minute. The  T-FAR Training link is here to assist you. The last day to submit is Tuesday, June 1, at 11:59 p.m.

  • Do you submit if your troop is on pause?
  • Do you submit if you have had little or no troop finance activity since your 2020 T-FAR?
  • Do you submit if the only activity your troop did this year was sell cookies?

Public Speaking with Beaverton Civic Theatre – C/S/A

Join us for a virtual acting class with the Beaverton Civic Theatre! We’ll explore the productions of The Diary of Anne Frank, The Hundred Dresses, and Ramona Quimby. Together we will bring characters to life using our voice, body, props and costumes! You will get to step into the world of these shows and perform scenes and monologues.

Build a Koinobori Kite – D/B/J

Time: 10:30am – 12:30pm
Cost: Girl: $15

Celebrate Children’s Day, a Japanese national holiday, by creating the traditional “koinobori,” otherwise known as carp streamers. Girls will have a chance to learn about the Japanese influence of the Martin House while creating these colorful windsocks! All materials will be provided, including a Martin House patch. This is a drop-off program.

Girl Scouts Doing Good Things

Daisy Troop 20063 used a portion of their Girl Scout cookie proceeds to benefit those in need by planning, purchasing, and donating to the local food pantry at the church where their troop has been able to meet twice a month. The girls had a great time going through the process of this awesome community service project!
