Notes from the CEO

Dear Members,

We are so excited for the return of in-person summer camp. Seeing the girls enjoying time outdoors with old and new friends is a highlight of the year so far. Thank you to our volunteers and staff for providing high-quality programming and care for girls this summer. And it wouldn’t be possible without the service and leadership of our volunteers throughout the whole year, and to our members and families for your continued support – thank you!

COVID-19 update: We continue to monitor NYS and CDC guidance and the current guidelines updated 6-15-21 are still in place for members.

These guidelines include our face mask guidelines – as a reminder there are no face masks required in outdoor settings and as children under the age of 12 cannot yet be vaccinated, face masks are still required for members indoors which includes GSWNY Service Center/retail locations.

GSWNY has one update to this policy for GSWNY service centers. Fully vaccinated staff are now permitted to remove their masks when working in the offices indoors when no customers are present. Staff will continue to wear masks in the retail area when customers are present to ensure the safety of our members and staff.

Girl Scouts help Feed the Need!
This summer GSWNY is again hosting Feed the Need–a food collection drive where we encourage members, troops, and staff to donate to their local food pantry. While Feed the Need officially runs July 1 to August 31, any time is a good time to donate! For tips on what, where and how to donate, please see our Feed the Need FAQ’s. Thank you for helping your community!

Programs & Events

Outer Harbor Community Bike Community Bike Program
Multiple Dates, Cadettes/Seniors/Ambassadors/Adults
Groups will be provided with bikes and helmets during programming timeframe. 10-15 participants will be taken out by an instructor on multiple mountain bike trails throughout the park.  Each participant will receive a take away item provided by Five Star Bank at the finish of the program. Camp Seven Hills 90th Anniversary Announcement
We notified participants signed up this past week that we have cancelled the 90th Celebration of Camp Seven Hills. Full refunds will be issued and we are in the process of finalizing the event cancellations and refunds.

We understand that participants are disappointed and we are too. This decision was made primarily due to our capacity this summer due to COVID-19, and also the low enrollment numbers in the program.

We will be working with the committee to plan additional ways to gather and celebrate Camp Seven Hills before the next anniversary of the 95th in 2025.
