What our country needs right now is you
In a time when politics are extremely contentious, your girl might be anxious, scared, or just have questions about what she’s seeing and hearing, and as a parent you want to help. So where do you start?
Simple ideas to get back to the real meaning of Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving should be a time to take a (probably much needed!) pause to celebrate all the wonderful things in our lives, and to teach our children the value of thankfulness. But who has time to really reflect when you’re too busy cooking and cleaning to even sit down and eat with the family?
So how can you and your family get back to the real meaning of Thanksgiving? Borrow these simple ideas from Dr. Bastiani Archibald and get ready to have one of your happiest holidays yet.
New Family Resources page from GSWNY
There are so many ways girls and families can participate in Girl Scouts. Whether your girl is part of a troop and looking for more activities or wanting to earn badges and get outdoors on her own, this page brings together all of the resources you need to participate in Girl Scouts together as a family.
The online Cookie Program begins Saturday, Dec. 5
The Girl Scout Cookie program is an integral part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and is a financial literacy program where girls gain experience with the 5 Entrepreneurial Skills: people skills, money management, business ethics, goal setting and decision making. Girls practice these skills while earning rewards and funds for their troop while providing essential funds to Council programs.
Visit gswny.org for more cookie resources to help your girl prepare for the December 5 online sales.
Make new friends with our new campaign
Now more than ever, your girl needs friends to share and create memories with, through in-person and virtual events. That’s why we’ve created the Grow Your Girl Crew challenge for members, so your girl can invite friends to join Girl Scouts, make new friends in the process, and even win prizes. Use the button below to learn more about the campaign, including what girls and adults win and how to participate
Keep your family safe while going virtual!
Many of our girls and troops are enjoying virtual programming this year. Some of these programs are being run by GSWNY, others are vendor-run. Just like when preparing for an in-person event, discussing behavior expectations and safety guidelines before the event ensures everyone has a great experience. Prior to virtual programs, families should review the GSUSA Online Safety Guide and Virtual Meeting Safety Tips, and girls should sign the Online Safety Pledge.
