Girl Scouts of Western New York is happy to announce that we will be going live and in person with our camp registration for both day and overnight camp programs! Registration for those who did not pre-register opens Thursday, May 6.

Earn Points for College Scholarships From Girl Scouts of Western New York– Renew by 5/31
This is an exclusive benefit for girls, co-leaders, and SUMs who participate in our annual Girl Scout Membership Spring Renewal Campaign and renew by 5/31. After their first year of Girl Scouts, girls, co-leaders, and SUMs can earn Tuition Reward Points when they renew their Girl Scout membership. Each 1 Point equals $1 in college tuition scholarship. Girls earn 2,500 Points and co-leaders/SUMs earn 3,500 Points. Points will be applied to SAGE Scholars accounts in July. Want more information? Visit our SAGE Scholars Page.

The annual Troop Financial Activity Report submission window opened Saturday, May 1
Troop Treasurers–Please submit your troop’s T-FAR via the VTK, Finance Tab, between today and June 1! If you have already submitted your finance report, we thank you!
Even if your troop hasn’t been very active during the past year, every troop, even those who elected to pause at the beginning of the membership year, must submit a T-FAR. Here is the link to the T-FAR Training to help you.
Don’t forget we also have two more Finance Open Houses scheduled in May to ask any questions you may have. Sign up here and you will get the zoom invite the morning of the Open House.

Green Angel: GSWNY Adult Recognition Award Monthly Highlight – May 2021
To wrap up our year of highlighting the various GSWNY Adult Recognitions, we are circling back to the Green Angel Award! The Green Angel Award is one of the easiest ways to show thanks to the adults in your Girl Scout community. This month we encourage you to think about who has been the “green angel” in your life this year.

Upcoming First Aid/CPR Trainings
Are you in the Rochester or Buffalo area and need to renew your FA/CPR Certification, but missed our April sessions? Don’t worry, we have 2 new adult sessions coming up at our offices in May that you are welcome to sign up for. Our partner, EPIC Trainings, Inc., is offering sessions of the First Aid and CPR Blended Learning Classes.

New Daisy Badge in a Box: Daisy Roller Coaster Design Challenge
Become a mechanical engineer and learn about motion by building and testing a roller coaster! Cost: $6
Grant funds are available for some areas of our Council reducing the cost of this box down to $3.00. If there is not a grant available in your area, members can apply for Council Opportunity Funds.
There are a limited number of boxes available for curbside pick-up at the Buffalo, Rochester, Lockport, and Jamestown Service Centers and shipping for an additional cost per box. Click here to order your Badge in a Box.

Brownies in Troop 31158 are making the world a better place! To earn the GSWNY Earth Day patch, they made bags from t-shirts and bookmarks from old cookie boxes. Then they met at their local park to pick up litter.
