Message from Alison Wilcox, CEO
Dear GSWNY members,
We are proud of our Girl Scouts of WNY community for continuing to come together across our nine counties to provide opportunities for our Girl Scouts to build lasting friendships, gain new skills and give back to their communities.
Two years into the pandemic, I know many feel increasingly exhausted and wish everything to return to normal.
After the NYS mask mandate was lifted last week, I am writing to share with you more information on how GSWNY makes decisions on our safety protocols and to provide transparency for how we will continue to make decisions for the foreseeable future.
GSWNY COVID-19 Safety Guidance Process
· First, GSWNY actively monitors public health guidance, and our COVID-19 safety protocols are reviewed accordingly. So far, there are no changes at this current time. Currently, The CDC is continuing to advise wearing masks in indoor settings regardless of vaccination status, and K-12 schools in NYS are still requiring mask use. However, if and when changes are made, we will alert members immediately.
· We understand that NYS is currently reassessing K-12 school guidance, and we expect an update by early March.
· We will continue to monitor public health guidelines and WNY rates of COVID-19 transmission.
· We are optimistic about the rates of COVID-19, which have been declining across NYS. However, several of our WNY counties are still considered to have substantial community transmission.
· We are prepared to increase or decrease our COVID-19 safety protocols based on public health guidance and COVID-19 rates in WNY counties.
I ask for your continued patience and diligence in following GSWNY safety guidelines which are in place not just for ourselves but for others.
Our troop leaders and volunteers are following GSWNY guidelines for the safety of our girls and adult members.
If you have concerns and questions about GSWNY safety guidelines, please direct those to our Customer Care team at customercare@gswny.org, and they will be shared with members of our Leadership team. We are here to support you and appreciate your insight.
Thank you for your continued diligence – Girl Scouting is a bright spot for girls and our community, and it isn’t possible without you.
Yours in Girl Scouting,
Alison Wilcox
