April 12-16 was our originally scheduled GSWNY Camp Week and we are excited to still celebrate camp through virtual camp activities that you will see below.
Like other summer camp providers, GSWNY continues to closely monitor guidance from the CDC and New York State and will update you if any of our summer camp plans change. For now, please enjoy this week’s activities and read below for some other program and training opportunities.
Mental Health and Youth: Signs, Symptoms and Interventions Virtual Training Sessions – Thursday 4/23
Two Sessions: 11am – 1pm and 6pm – 8pm
Karl Shallowhorn, MA, CASAC has partnered with GSWNY in order to offer two training sessions to our staff and volunteers. This training provides a basic overview of mental health, as well as information on disorders such as anxiety and depression. Participants will be able to identify the signs and symptoms as well as risk and protective factors associated with these conditions in relationship to youth 18 and under. Information will also be provided on resources available to assist those working with youth who may be encountering emerging mental health challenges.
Please note that each session has a maximum of 250 registrants, so space is limited. Please register only if you are able to attend the live session; the sessions will be recorded and circulated via Member Essentials to all members. GSWNY and Mr. Shallowhorn are also collaborating to provide a mental health session for girl members – please keep an eye out for more details to come!
Use the links below to register for either Thursday session.
Note: These are two identical sessions; please register for only one session.
Thursday Morning – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Thursday Evening – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Girl Scouts Doing Good Things
Our Girl Scouts are putting their ingenuity to work and doing great things across our WNY community. Check out a few examples below.
Brownie Troop 74148 donated the rest of their cookies to some ECMC ICU nurses and made cards to show their appreciation of all the hard work they are doing. Girl Scout Oliva B. from Troop 20031, with the help of Barb F., raised enough funds for 219 boxes of cookies! The cookies were given to COVID Healthcare Heroes at Brooks Hospital in Dunkirk, ECMC and Buffalo General Medical Center. Gracie from Troop 34150 decided she wanted to spread some kindness to her mail carrier, one box at a time.
We are #GirlScoutStrong! Looking forward to talking to you on Thursday! In the meantime, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at Customer Care customercare@gswny.org or call 1-888-837-6410.
